The whales have arrived in Hermanus!
A new arrival on our bookshelves is Watching Whales and Dolphins in Southern Africa by Noel Ashton who is not only an expert in his field but is also a talented artist.
It is Ashton’s artwork mounted on public viewing plaques located in Hermanus, which depict these amazing mammals in their natural habitat.
Whale-watchers/photographers like Hermanus’ own ‘Whale-Whisperer’ Dave de Beer sometimes have to wait for days to make the right photograph (one of next postings is about Dave’s newest book). Hemingways of Hermanus has its own collection of whale books.
